Move over Safari Khaki
So often we visualise the African bush experience of the Kruger National Park in the wildlife safari colours of Africa’s Big Five.

Well, that may be true to some extent. But after our last visit to the Kruger National Park, I decided to look for and experience different aspects of being in the Kruger Park.

The hype of ‘sightings’
We can so easily get caught up in the hype of looking for the Big Five.
It’s just as easy to feel despondent when we don’t come across the sightings that typify a successful Kruger visit.

Make no mistake – it’s wonderful to be able to see everything the Kruger National Park has to offer. The downside is that you can easily become disappointed after spending a day in the car and ‘not seeing anything’.

A different lens
I decided the quintessential Bush experience was more than just the much fêted sighting of the Big Five.

I looked out for colours, textures, smells and the light at different time of the day.

One of the colours I guess we don’t associate the Bush with at first, is pink.

For me, one my best experiences after the holiday, is to pore over the hundreds of photos I’ve taken. I was delighted to see the pink theme emerge! In the ears and feathers of the animals, and in the beautiful African morning and evening light.

In the pink
These are some photos that to me highlight the Pink of the Kruger!
