Listen to the song of your heart
In this crazy world of all things digital, I returned home from a torrid time at the brick and mortar bank. Yes, in order to sort out my online issues, I had to eventually go into the branch. This was back in 2019.
I will not dwell on the outing too much, other than to say, I returned home rather grumpy and disgruntled.
The Rose
It was a lovely autumn afternoon. I was glad to be home. Through my fog of annoyance, I glanced through the window.
I saw a rose bud had opened during the day. In in the afternoon balminess, the rose beckoned to me.

I consciously bent over the delicate Peace rose.
My face touched the soft petals. I inhaled deeply. The soft scent calmed my inner core.
Two deep breaths. I felt the petals. Soft and velvety, peace returned.

Roses have always grounded me – I can lose myself in their dignity, delicate form, colour and fragrance.
Enjoy the roses blooming outside your window today
“One of the most tragic things I know about human nature is that all of us tend to put off living. We are all dreaming of some magical rose garden over the horizon instead of enjoying the roses that are blooming outside our windows today. ” – Dale Carnegie
The Robin
I decided to take a short walk. On the electric box outside a neighbours house was perched a cheeky Robin. I love the robins.

One of the stories I love is the Secret Garden (by Frances Hodgson Burnett). In the story, a little robin shows Mary and Dicken the key to the Secret Garden.

A story of personal growth and renewal for Mary, Dicken and Colin unfolds. The Robin being the catalyst.
As I walked past, I said softly, “Hello, little bird”.
The robin responded. It turned to look at me with bright eyes and puffed up chest. They always look so fat and content, the robins.

The word that bubbled up through my consciousness in that moment was optimism. The robin is always optimistic.
The garden is safe. I will find a worm. Chirrup Chirrup. All will be well.
Inspiration is closer than you’d expect
In quick succession, I received two affirmations from my immediate environment. The Rose’s gift was fragrant Calm. The Robin’s message was one of Optimism. But – I had to be present in the moment to recognise and receive these gifts.
Looking up the symbolism of the Robin, the following themes emerged:
“The robin is cheerful, graceful, and tenacious.”
The robin signifies stimulation of new growth and renewal in many areas of life. He teaches that any changes can be made with joy, laughter and a song in your heart.
This bright, happy bird is often a sign of joy and laughter.
The robin is a sign that you should listen to the song of your heart.
Love and lessons are all around us.
